A Quick Fix

Colorblock Films, April Flores Films, Praline Studio | Germany | 2024 | 7 min | English

Housewife April Flores’ washing machine breaks down. When dykey plumber Manon Praline arrives, April turns on her bimbo charm, and reveals her real intentions. Soon Manon is sliding into April’s velvet robe, and she wants that wrench where?!

Cane

Bendix Mignon | Germany | 2024 | 5 min

A short queer porn film which celebrates crip sex. It is part of an ongoing (and very practical) research into crip porn, into what it means to fuck with disability and normalcy. It queers the actor and finds agency in our aids. Who assists whom, who grants access? “cane” is an intimate red-hot crip-sexy hip-grinding rhythmic conversation of a person and their cane.

Bang Click Bang

Hardwerk | Germany | 2021 | 17 min | English

Inspired by the sexploitation films of Russ Meyers and Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow Up (1966), HardWerk’s latest gang bang is a slow burning subversion of cinematic tropes that finds the carnal in the camp and the sumptuous in the sleaze. For her first ever gang bang and first facial on film, lead performer Maria Riot and the filmmakers reimagined the figure of the bossy (and generally male) photographer with a much-needed shift on the gender axis, allowing Maria to take the lead in quite literally staging her own fantasy. Here, the line between object, subject and artist can become blurred; men in all their exaggerated machismo can become eager playthings, and the directive cannot go unheeded: look at me.

No Man Like Me

Jaq Quicksilver | USA | 2023 | 4 min | English

“So you’re bicurious…. Big deal. Get online, you can be sucking dick or getting fucked within an hour – if that’s what you really want to do. It’s one of the easiest things on earth to do. …But instead you’re here with me. Let’s explore why that is.

Reclamation

Oran Julius | USA | 2022 | 6 min | English

Three friends gather on the solstice to practice a healing ritual involving messaging, fists, and hot wax. Who says wax play can’t be therapeutic? Reclamation is all about leaning into kink as healing, self care, and community love. Three friends gather on the solstice to practice a healing ritual designed to help them embrace and celebrate their bodies. Together they pamper each other before forming a bond with a very special seal. In Reclamation we celebrate Black bodies, Brown bodies, fat bodies, disabled bodies, hypermobile bodies, chronically ill bodies, and trans bodies.

Four Chambers Special

March 29 @ 15:30 16:15 CET

Four Chambers Special: Various films by Vex Ashley

Location: Etage | Times: 15:30-16:15 | Tickets: €11,25 @ Cinetol

Four Chambers is a name that keeps popping up at every SW and porn festival we visit. So we looked into who is behind this project and it turned out to be the very talented porn performer, director and filmmaker Vex Ashley. With a art school and photography background, as well as digital sex work online, Four Chambers became a project, an idea and an ongoing collaboration with the intention to explore the aesthetic and conceptual potential of pornography as a creative medium for ideas. We handpicked several of their works as examples of some exquisite DIY works with high-end aesthetic production value from a community perspective.

Two of Swords | UK | 2022 | 13 min

An ancient symbol of the divine masculine, the sword = cock symbolism isn’t exactly subtle here. Recreated with some of my favourite sexually charged tarot imagery from the suit of swords under glowing neon red light. An occult homoerotic Bacchanalia ritual or a sweaty 3am club fuck.

Archetype | UK |  2019 | 13 min

Porn aesthetics and archetypes are fascinating, sex on film has always been innovative, at the forefront of pushing technology and creativity. Being pushed to the margins means you’re forced to make new rules and create your own visions, processes and traditions. Porn world developed its own visual language, signs and semiotics.

This is the first in a new series we’re hoping to continue exploring where we look at traditional Porn stereotypes, archetypes, aesthetics and cliches and how we can explore, subvert or expand them. Exploring some classic archetypes – play fighting, wrestling, leather bars, vests, sweat and skin we were lucky enough to be able to license the perfect brooding Berlin goth gay club soundtrack from Boy Harsher and we were good to go.

A Cyborg Manifesto | UK | 2020 | 5 min

Originally commissioned by The Museum of Sex for the CAM LIFE exhibition, ‘A Cyborg Manifesto’ is a visual essay and a personal exploration of a life spent online.

We broadcast our image in cells and pixels across continents, viewed by lenses, pushed through codecs and compression algorithms, adapting new ways to circumvent the physical. Thousands of people every day fuck and fuck themselves broadcast live via webcam. I spent 4 years from 2012-2016 live online, executing a carefully choreographed performance of authenticity – shapeshifting, adapting, morphing. My sex and self monetised for consumption, working for tips. Records of this will outlive me, videos of cam shows ripped, recorded and uploaded on illegal sites, digital time capsules or ticking time bombs.

Proximity IV | UK | 2015 | 11 min

The Proximity series was really where the project started. It aims to replicate the intensity of a sexual connection by bringing the camera in.

Highlight the intricacies and minutia of sex, things often lost in sex on screen. The closeness of the camera allows for greater focus on breath, sweat, touches that might otherwise be lost. It replicates the experience of a partner. Body parts merge and skin blends. It becomes less about clarity and more about atmosphere and experience.

about the filmmaker

Vex Ashley is a porn performer, director and filmmaker. After rejecting being demoted to “muse” spending 3 years at art school and getting naked online as a cam girl, Vex started making work as Four Chambers to expand the idea of what sex on film could say, do and be. Vex performs in, directs, edits and produces the Four Chambers project in collaboration with a partner and the performers. She speaks, writes and spends a lot of time online talking about making porn creatively and independently, sex as performance, authenticity, art and pornography, technology and sex, camming, censorship and the music of Joanna Newsom.

Vex is self taught in film making with an emphasis on collaborative DIY practices; Four Chambers now exists alongside a new wave of creators making contemporary pornographic work from a new perspective. The project remains deliberately ambiguous, rejecting labels for both their films and performers, existing in-between genres of both art and pornography and dismissing the need for a definition of either. Exploring themes of technology, symbolism, mythology and alchemy and their intrinsic intersection with sex and part of the growing decentralisation from traditional adult industry business, Four Chambers is independent, DIY, conceptual, pornography cinema.

Prima Vista

READY

Vincent Weschelberger | Germany | 2024 | 10 min | English

READY is an honest portrait of contemporary queer sex work emerging out of [the director’s] own relationship to it. This series offers a window into our reality – the elation and self-actualization, as well as the struggles and stigma we experience.

Reisende

Cosmopolitrans, ESWA, BV Trans | Germany | 2023 | 14 min | Spanish with English subs

This short documentary addresses in a sensitive and detailed way the lives of migrant trans women working in the sex sector in Germany.

Through personal testimonies and intimate narratives, the multiple difficulties that these women face are exposed, such as discrimination, economic precariousness, and legal and social obstacles. However, the documentary also highlights their achievements and the resilience they demonstrate in facing these challenges. It shows how they find support in supportive communities and support networks, and how they fight for their rights and dignity in an often hostile environment.

Sugar
Alyssa Brayboy | USA | 2023 | 6 min | English

Thriving: A Dissociated Reverie

Nicole Bazuin | Canada | 2023 | 10 min | English

A surrealist exploration of dissociative identity disorder (DID) based on the lived experience of a Black, nonbinary, disabled artist and former sex worker.

More about the film & director

Thriving: A Dissociated Reverie is a surrealist exploration of dissociative identity disorder (DID) based on the lived experience of Black, non-binary, disabled emerging multidisciplinary performance artist and former sex worker Kitoko Mai. Grappling with their DID diagnosis while attempting to survive capitalism, we meet a range of “alters” (alternate personalities) representing the various emotional states of Mai, the “system host.” Featuring a tour-de-force performance by Mai, Thriving is directed by Nicole Bazuin (Modern Whore, SXSW 2020), and co-written/co-produced by Mai and Bazuin, alongside sex worker advocate and author Andrea Werhun. This visually striking film lensed by Ashley Iris Gill is complete with lush animations by Society of Illustrators triple-gold-medallist Dylan Glynn. Thriving was created with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Toronto Arts Council.

Nicole Bazuin (director) is a Toronto film director and interdisciplinary artist. In collaboration with writer and former escort Andrea Werhun, Nicole co-created and photographed the acclaimed book Modern Whore: A Memoir (Strange Light, Penguin Random House Canada). A new R’hope (shibari/kinbaku performance)

by Cyanhur and Messy Anni  (France | 2024 | 30-35 min)

When everything has turned to chaos, resistance is whispering in the night, a rope lies on the ground, silent witness of a fractured world. In the middle of the rubble, two beings find each other and unite again. Together, they choose to share a moment of affection, to suspend time and defy the surrounding chaos. Let yourself be carried away by this suspended moment, where hope seems possible again.

This show contains bondage and BDSM scenes, as well as siren audios.

More about the performers

Cyanhur @cyanhur (they/them) is an artist and SW passionate about shibari. For them ropes go far beyond a simple practice: they weave physical and emotional connections, nourishing a unique artistic universe. By merging their love of ropes with creativity, they explore and share this art through photos and videos.

Messy Anni @messy_anni (she/her) is a shibari switch and occasional SW. She started shibari in Greece and has practiced this art with different partners in various countries since then. She enjoys how ropes can facilitate communication and trust building between people, as well as the power exchange it creates. She sees ropes as a tool that can be used for different purposes and intentions.

queer.red’s selection is HOT! Join us to queer your gaze and enjoy trans pleasure.

Tickets €8.50 (€0 with Cineville) via Kriterion

What happens when a queer sex worker collective is invited to curate a collection of porn shorts created by trans and non-binary sex workers? We invite you to come explore your ideas about porn, the sex work industry and body norms. A q&a will follow after the screening with some of the filmmakers from the NL-produced films. These were part of the Down & Dirty DIY workshop that was held with a group of Dutch-based sex workers who came together over a month-long workshop to produce queer porn. Their works premiered during a sold-out screening at the Porn Film Festival Amsterdam last February. This whore-y fantasy was dreamed up by queer sex workers Mercy and Vivi and was sponsored by queer.red; a Dutch-based group of (former) sex workers, feminists, queer and trans people who organise events on the topic of sex work with the aim to destigmatise sex work through more nuanced and diverse representations.

Even from the theater seat, Elemental turns porn into an elaborate sensation play!

Fuck you, Pay Me! (Mercy St. James, NL, 8’, English)

Raunchy. Hot. Political. DIY.

What happens when sex workers from across the NL and the sex industry come together over a month-long workshop to produce queer porn?

The Down & Dirty DIY Porn Workshop was a whore-y fantasy brought to life, sparked by this very question. Dreamed up by queer sex workers Mercy and Vivi—with their respective years-long experience in the sex industry—and in collaboration with queer.red, Down & Dirty DIY invited aspiring, current, and former sex workers in Amsterdam & the NL into a month-long, peer-to-peer, porn skill share. As a skill share, we wanted to engage the different knowledges of whores from across the industry, bridge gaps in the sex worker community, all while making our own queer fantasies realized in porn—while using DIY and accessible methods.

And who better than other queer sex workers to conjure up hot, panty-dripping, and queer-as-fuck scenes together? These series shorts will be a break from your average porn. So buckle up, loves, you‘re in for a ride. The screening will preview all the films made in the workshop,  include performances, and a Q&A with workshop facilitators & participants.
