Festival\, who will be present to introduce the screening. \n\n\n\nMore about presenter Marianne Chargois & SNAP!\nThis Brussels-based Sex workers Narratives Arts & Politics festival is SW-led and entirely dedicated to the discourses\, representations and issues related to sex work. SNAP! has been a huge inspiration to us over the years- visiting their gorgeous festival truly helped envision Whorehouse Cinema and look for sw- created art! We opened their festival last year and now it’s our turn to welcome them in return. And we can continue snapping our fingers throughout the festival\, as the SNAP! creator Marianne Chargois will also perform during the ‘Whorehouse Cabaret’ performance night on Saturday! \n\n\n\n\n42 Days \n\n\n\nNat Portnoy | The Netherlands | 2020 | 11 min | Polish with English subs \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n42 Days focuses on the moment of confrontation with a terminal disease and an attempt to process a personal tragedy.  \n\n\n\nThe film\, in a form of visual diary\, takes the viewers onto a journey of realisations regarding the author’s difficult family relations\, gender and sexual identity and the lack of control. It reflects on shame\, guilt and the experience of queerness in a conservative\, Catholic setting as well as on the concepts of migration and re-rooting. The author speculates whether it’s possible to fully accept one’s fate. \n\n\n\nThis film deals with topics like terminal disease\, disability and suicide. \n\n\n\nNot in Love (Pas Amoureux)  \n\n\n\nEugénie Bouquet | Switzerland | 2022 | 4 min | French with English subs \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nTwo people are sitting on a bench in the Parc des Bastions in Geneva. One\, Judith\, is a sex worker who talks about her experience with disabled clients. The other one\, me\, is interviewing and recording her. An animated documentary about sex between people who are not in love. \n\n\n\nThis film engages with themes of illness and death. \n\n\n\nPrima Vista \n\n\n\nSquareheart & Cornpop Bright | Greece | 2024 | 3 min | No spoken  language \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nEvery gaze carries within it the potential for profound understanding. Through the lens of a woman’s eyes\, we watch a private performance where sight transcends mere observation\, becoming a vessel for connection and empathy. \n\n\n\nREADY \n\n\n\nVincent Weschelberger | Germany | 2024 | 10 min | English  \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nREADY is an honest portrait of contemporary queer sex work emerging out of [the director’s] own relationship to it. This series offers a window into our reality – the elation and self-actualization\, as well as the struggles and stigma we experience. \n\n\n\nReisende  \n\n\n\nCosmopolitrans\, ESWA\, BV Trans | Germany | 2023 | 14 min | Spanish with English subs \n\n\n\nThis short documentary addresses in a sensitive and detailed way the lives of migrant trans women working in the sex sector in Germany.  \n\n\n\nThrough personal testimonies and intimate narratives\, the multiple difficulties that these women face are exposed\, such as discrimination\, economic precariousness\, and legal and social obstacles. However\, the documentary also highlights their achievements and the resilience they demonstrate in facing these challenges. It shows how they find support in supportive communities and support networks\, and how they fight for their rights and dignity in an often hostile environment. \n\n\n\nSugarAlyssa Brayboy | USA | 2023 | 6 min | English  \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWe follow Banner on his search for a sex worker. He stumbles across Alora\, who is usually up for anything\, but she quickly learns Banner isn’t a typical client. \n\n\n\nToomas Beneath the Valley of the Wild Wolves \n\n\n\nChintis Lundgren | Estonia\, Croatia\, France | 2019 | 18 min | English \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nAfter losing a well paid engineering job\, Toomas\, a young hot wolf\, gets cornered into working as a gigolo to support his family. He is keeping it a secret from his pregnant wife Viivi. Viivi also has a secret: she is attending a female empowerment seminar involving male slaves. When Toomas gets a role in a sexploitation movie\, it becomes harder to keep his new profession a secret. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nfilm programme (feature)\, whorehouse cinema

She’s a retired stripper and aspiring indie smut maker. Her work takes inspiration from her lived experiences\, but it is essentially romantic fantasies. \n\n\n\n\n\nArchivo Puta by Maria Riot (2024) \n\n\n\nA multidisciplinary project that seeks to create archives of the present and search for archives of the past of sex workers\, as well as recover memory\, make visible the beauty and resistance of the collective. \n\n\n\nPresentation by the artist on Sunday 30 March 13:00-15:00 | Location: Etage | Entrance: donation-based \n\n\n\n\nMaría Riot (1991) Sex worker for over a decade\, sex worker right’s activist\, member of AMMAR\, the Sex Worker Union of Argentina\, Intimacy Coordinator for Adult Films and Artist. Born in the Province of Buenos Aires\, Argentina. Based in Barcelona\, Spain. Author of the photography project Archivo Puta. Curator at Porn Film Festivals and co Organiser of “Putas en Pantalla” (Whores on Films)\, a selection of short and long films about sex work\, screened at Excentrico Fest (Chile)\, Zumzeig Cinema (Spain) and Post P_rn Arts Fest Warsaw (Poland). After realizing that\, how do you escape? Let’s embrace vulnerability and discover new dimensions of pleasure through your body. The notion that traditional masculinity\, with its prohibitions against emotional openness and bodily exploration\, limits the pleasure in your everyday life. I believe that men urgently need to embrace vulnerability and this must extend to sex and pleasure. Why miss this type of pleasure? Break free from the cage of gender norms\, by allowing yourself to experience pleasure. In this way\, you can challenge societal taboos and reclaim your body. This change is not only physical but also societal. You can see it as a heroic action for the world and dismantle this regressive and hurtful legacy with a simple pegging. \n\n\n\n\nMiammy grew up in Greece\, studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and Gerrit Rietveld Academie during an Erasmus exchange in Amsterdam. She loves interdisciplinary collaboration\, having participated in the transcultural program at Zürich University of the Arts and as a member of the Sinodi Papu Collective. Passionate about exploring people and cultures by traveling the world and Digital space.

SUMMARY:sex worker film & art festival | 28-30 march
DESCRIPTION:Welcome back to the second edition of queer.red presents! Whorehouse Cinema & Cabaret! \n\n\n\nqueer.red presents! proudly returns for a second and amplified edition of our film and arts festival that celebrates the art of sex workers! This year\, our programme focuses on queer and trans sex workers (as always)  and now with a much needed cabaret!  \n\n\n\nIn 2020 queer.red emerged with a manifesto to destigmatize how sex work is discussed and encourage expanding the rights and autonomy of sex workers. Since then\, we have organised 25+ events and collaborated internationally with festivals in Korea\, Austria\, Ireland\, and Belgium as well as in the Netherlands. Throughout our journey\, we’ve upheld our mission to direct resources to sex workers and support their creation of art\, to center the voice of sex workers\, and seek out their stories.  \n\n\n\nThis second edition of the festival offers an archive of photography\, an art exhibition\, workshops by and for sex workers\, a sharp selection of films and shorts\, as well as a cabaret that includes performers from throughout the Netherlands and France. Filmmakers will be traveling across the globe to present their work and for many it is the first time they are being compensated with a participation fee.  \n\n\n\nWe are also taking this opportunity to reaffirm our collaboration with sex worker-led organisations like Papaya Kuir and SAVE as well as other community-led festivals like SNAP! and Porn Film Festival Amsterdam.  \n\n\n\nDuring the festival\, we want those who are mostly impacted by injustice\, capitalism\, racism\, homo- and transphobia\, to be able to participate in our festival. Therefore some programmes will be sex worker-only\, donation-based\, or on a sliding scale. Our aim for this year is to make sure that 85% or more of the total budget goes directly to sex worker artists and volunteers.  \n\n\n\nThis event is by the community\, for the community. You are invited to join in on it’s diversity\, creativity and audacity. \n\n\n\nSee you at the Whorehouse!   \n\n\n\nThe queer.red team & board \n\n\n\nAlexis\, Aline\, Angel\, Domi\, Majk and Plette

In the middle of the rubble\, two beings find each other and unite again. Together\, they choose to share a moment of affection\, to suspend time and defy the surrounding chaos. Let yourself be carried away by this suspended moment\, where hope seems possible again. \n\n\n\nThis show contains bondage and BDSM scenes\, as well as siren audios. \n\n\n\nMore about the performers\nCyanhur @cyanhur (they/them) is an artist and SW passionate about shibari. For them ropes go far beyond a simple practice: they weave physical and emotional connections\, nourishing a unique artistic universe. By merging their love of ropes with creativity\, they explore and share this art through photos and videos. \n\n\n\nMessy Anni @messy_anni (she/her) is a shibari switch and occasional SW. She started shibari in Greece and has practiced this art with different partners in various countries since then. She enjoys how ropes can facilitate communication and trust building between people\, as well as the power exchange it creates. SUMMARY:Unsolicited Brick Pick by Cece Monroe
DESCRIPTION:A response to male sexual violence in the digital age. \n\n\n\nFriday 31 March 18:00-23:00 \n\n\n\nSaturday 1 April 12:00-22:00 \n\n\n\nSunday 2 April 12:00-20:30 \n\n\n\nFree \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf flashing your penis is an act of sexual violence\, why are unsolicited “dick pics” so ubiquitous in our society? The disconnect between the body and the image of the body leads to a disconnect between the action of sending a dick pic and the responsibility for this action. This is due\, in large part\, to the tacit social acceptability of “dick pics”\, it seems more acceptable to send a “dick pic” than to flash somebody. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMasculinity has long been associated with penises. In this way\, sending a “dick pic” can be viewed as a display of masculinity. This displaying of masculinity is frequently done without context\, this causes the receiver of the “dick pic” to be immediately aware of their own objectification by others. Conversations opened with a “dick pic” are an immediate display of violence and objectification; analogous to having a brick thrown through your window. \n\n\n\n\n\nThrough unsolicited Brick Pic\, I explore this disconnect between the physical world and the online world. By printing the “dick pic” onto a physical object\, I bridged the divide between the two worlds: reconnecting the violence of flashing with the sending of a “dick pic” online. \n\n\n\n\n\nA brick is not just a symbol of permanence and strength but also a symbol of oppression and resistance\, especially to the queer community. “According to legend\, it was a piece of brick hurled atpolice officers outside of the Stonewall Inn that sparked the historic uprising.” Using a brick recognises the prevalence of unsolicited (1) dick pics in the queer community. Highlighting this further\, I chose to work with queer models\, all of whom spoke to me about their experiences of receiving unsolicited “dick pics”. \n(1) Smith\, R. (2020) Who threw the first brick at stonewall? A final and definitive answer to the internet’s favourite question\, PinkNews. Available at: (Accessed: November 19\, 2022).\n\n\n\n\nI hope viewers of my work walk away more aware of the subtle forms of sexual violence that are common place in our society.

SUMMARY:sex worker film & art festival 31 March - 2 April 2023
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to queer.red presents: Whorehouse Cinema! \nA brand new sex worker film & arts festival\, serving you our first festival edition between 31 March and April 2nd 2023 at Cinetol in Amsterdam.  \nWe are a collective consisting of (former) sex workers\, feminists\, queer and trans people from all different walks of life and backgrounds and operate under the name of queer.red presents! We organise events in The Netherlands on the topic of sex work and aim to destigmatise sex work trough more nuanced and diverse representation. Our focus is on art created by sex workers which are broader than the usual\, narrow ideas and stereotypes – instead seeking to promote intersectional imagery made with\, by and for with sex worker communities.  \nFor our first festival edition\, we will bring everything to the table\, or better: stage. A sharp selection of films (feature\, short\, documentary\, fiction\, animation) will transport you through a variety of worlds from sex workers’ perspectives. There will be workshops on making erotic content\, an art exhibition adorning the walls of Cinetol\, a VR XtraSexyReality experience (that’s right)\, a Peepshow Hoes performance ín the courtyard and big and juicy pop-up technology driven strip club Striptopia.  \nDuring the festival\, we want those who are most impacted by injustice\, capitalism\, racism\, homo- and transphobia\, to be able to participate in our festival. Therefore some programmes will be free or donation-based. Other than securing the venue\, all funds go directly to the sex worker community and filmmakers including hiring vendors and other support who are current or former sex workers. Also – to be attentive to sex workers’s needs for safe spaces –  some of the workshops will be sex worker only. And finally – where not otherwise noted\, all 18+ are welcome! As the title of our little festival suggests\, there will be some adult content… \nWe hope you will enjoy all of these goodies. Our thanks goes out to the many contributors that have so kindly agreed to showcase their work. Thank you so much! \nSee you at the Whorehouse! \nThe queer.red presents! team \nAlexis\, Aline\, Majk and Plette \ncontent warnings for all films
